The Ministry of National Defense said Defense Secretary Kim Yong-hyun and U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will hold the 56th Korea-U.S. Security Consultative Meeting, SCM, in Washington, D.C. on the 30th.

The Ministry of National Defense said in the SCM that it will hold talks to lay the groundwork for the practical implementation of the "South Korea-U.S. Alliance Defense Vision" agreed last year and further solidify its development into a "global comprehensive strategic alliance."

As a result, major issues will be discussed, including cooperation with North Korea on the recent security situation on the Korean Peninsula, such as the dispatch of North Korea to Russia, as well as expansionary deterrence between South Korea and the U.S., strengthening joint defense posture, and security cooperation between South Korea, the U.S. and Japan and the Indo-Pacific region.
