"There are a lot of disaster movies, but I think 'Deadline' is really a good movie that fits the current era. I think it's a heartwarming human drama where I can forget about my family, my colleagues, my workplace, and so on, but it can be an opportunity to think about these things again."(Actor Gong Seung-yeon)
The press distribution preview of the
movie 'Deadline' was held at Lotte Cinema World Tower at 2 p.m. today (25th). The press conference, which followed shortly after the premiere, was attended by director Kwon Bong-geun, actors Gong Seung-yeon, Park Ji-il, Hong Seo-joon and Lee Joon-hyuk, who directed the film, to talk about the work.

The movie "Deadline" is set in a Pohang steel mill hit by a massive typhoon, and is a real disaster human drama about survival, truth, and hot struggle ahead of the deadline. The film was made based on the actual damage of Typhoon Hinnamno that hit the Korean Peninsula in September 2022, and deals with the steelmen's strong will to prevent the massive typhoon that hit the Pohang steel mill and the hot struggle to overcome the crisis.

Director Kwon Bong-geun, who directed with a great sense of responsibility as it was based on a true story, said, "I believed in the power of the real story. I wanted to express it in a movie because the emotion of the story was so strong," he said.

In fact, "Deadline" presents a vivid sense of reality as it is the first work to be located at a Pohang steel mill. In response, director Kwon said, "It was not easy to film at the Pohang steel mill. The factory itself was so huge and it was actually in operation, so the issue of safety was the top priority. It was thanks to the cooperation of the steel mill that we were able to film safely even at the scene where the red metal flows out," he said, expressing his gratitude to officials at Pohang Iron and Steel Plant.

Director Kwon also said why he cast Gong Seung-yeon. Director Kwon Bong-geun, who previously worked with Gong Seung-yeon through the drama "The Police Station Next to the Fire Station and the National Forensic Service", said that Gong Seung-yeon's broken image and trust in him were the biggest reason for the casting.

Gong Seung-yeon also said, "I had faith and trust in the director, and when I heard that he was directing a feature film, I wanted to help him immediately. In particular, I remember not being able to sleep the day before reading the script because there are not many opportunities to act with great seniors like this," he said with a smile.

"I thought it was a role of breathing with the audience, so I tried to express the character as naturally and plainly as possible," he said, adding an explanation of the part focused on realizing the character in the work.

At the end of the press conference, director Kwon said, "Watching the real story closely, I was actually moved, and I wanted to deliver the director to the audience. Because it contains someone's sublime sacrifice and responsibility, you will be able to feel warm even though it is a disaster movie," he said, adding that he did not forget the love call for the prospective audience.

The movie "Deadline" is set to be released in theaters on November 6.
