There are special artists who have been writing miracles with music for many years. We are performing through talent donation and supporting all profits to Africa. Let's meet the main characters. We have Kim In-kyung, the head of the Soul Chamber Orchestra, and tenor John Noh at YTN Studio. Welcome. First, I'll ask the general manager a question. Please introduce the soul chamber orchestra to the viewers.

[Kim In-kyung]
The Soul Chamber Orchestra is a non-profit organization created by musicians to help children in Africa by donating their talents.

[Anchor]
It was founded in 2009? Then it's already been over 10 years, wasn't it hard to gather the participants?

[Kim In-kyung]
At first, it was difficult to inform and persuade my will, but as the years went by, the number of performers who wanted to join this good will increased, so it started with 12 people at first, but now it has grown to an orchestra of 70 people.

[Anchor]
It's called the longest-serving talent donation orchestra. Let me ask tenor John Noe a question. You already made your name known at the vocal competition, so your face was well known. How did you get to participate in the talent donation? Was there a chance? If it's

[John No]
, our general manager Kim In-kyung called us first.

[Anchor]
Did you know each other before?

[John No]
He's a senior at my university, and I actually did my debut recycling at Carnegie Hall. My family came to support me and I heard that he's hosting a concert with World Vision, so I worked as a Waldae Vision artist in 2020. That's why I participated like this because that relationship deepened.

[Anchor]
How did you feel to participate?

[John No]
I'm so happy to participate in person. Actually, I've been supporting children at World Vision since I was a student, and I got a letter from Indonesia a few days ago. The child I sponsored won the first place in the national singing competition and decided on his career path. Since I receive such messages, I want to feel the happiness of making donations and sponsorship, and I hope that many people feel it.

[Anchor]
You must have been so happy when you received the letter.

[John No]
is correct.

[Anchor]
To ask you a specific question, anyway, this is an orchestra performance that raises donations for African children. How much have you collected in the meantime?

[Kim In-kyung]
I think I raised about 500 million won.

[Anchor]
Then for how many years? You've raised 500 million won over the past 10 years, right?

[Kim In-kyung]
That's right.

[Anchor]
Then you collected 500 million won, and what activities do you spend on in Africa?

[Kim In-kyung]
I have heavily sponsored drinking water facilities. Because the reason I first learned about African reality was Han Bi-ya's book, "That was Love," and after reading the book, I posted on the World Vision bulletin board on a whim that I wanted to help if I could.

[Anchor]
Did you post it on the World Vision site? [Kim In-kyung] It's a bulletin board. So this started and I didn't know it would last this long and I didn't know it would be this big. At that time, I was so surprised to hear that children were drinking muddy water, and then I said, "It would be great if I had a concert and sold tickets and dug a well." That's how I started. But now, I can't help but see how many children have benefited and their lives have changed.

[Anchor]
How many children have benefited? Did you get statistics?

[Kim In-kyung]
I don't know the exact statistics for that, but I also went to Zambia in August. However, children who have drinking water facilities and those who do not have drinking water facilities look different. And I think it's the difference between having different eyes and having hope and not. That's why sponsoring drinking water completely changes the lives of these children, I think.

[Anchor]
You went there yourself, but what was the most memorable scene when you went there? The screen is coming out right now.

[Kim In-kyung]
There are many scenes, and the kids usually make drinking fountains for that water in schools. But children are so excited that they usually walk around for three to four hours to float. Usually, girls. So as girls go, they are exposed to sexual violence, and crucially, they cannot go to school. Then you can't get an education. Then you can't get out of poverty again. It becomes such a vicious cycle, and now there is water in the school, so mothers send it to school. While I'm there, the water comes to my mind. And the school provides a lot of school meals. Then the kids come to school to eat it. So the water was floating, the children studied, and the children ate school meals. So when I saw you so bright and healthy, it wasn't easy to prepare, but I thought it was really valuable.

[Anchor]
It's going to be two birds with one stone. But I think you'll get a lot of questions like this. In fact, there are many economically difficult children in Korea, so don't you get a lot of questions about why they are supporting overseas, even Africa?

[John No]
That's right. But I don't think we had many opportunities like that. In my case, I perform a lot as an artist, but there are a lot of artists who really wait when they give me this opportunity and call. I want to participate more in this talent donation. I think so. So, more artists than I thought are open minded and try to participate hard in these things. So, if there is something related in Korea, if you approach it first, you won't say no.

[Anchor]
You've been doing a lot of meaningful performances, and you're preparing for a special concert this time?

[John No]
is correct. This time, we're doing it at the Seoul Arts Center again, and it's called The Gift. Music move live means that music changes the lives of life. This performance is especially accompanied by classical vocal aria, Korean songs, Cross of Group, which I belong to, and crossover artist Park Hyun-soo, who does world music and African music. So we're going to show you a variety of things.

[Anchor]
There are about two weeks left until the concert. General manager, is there anything you want to say to the viewers?

[Kim In-kyung]
As John No said, I think there are small seeds in many people's hearts that want to help others. But if there are people who are hesitating because they don't know what to do with this, I would like to tell you that if I add a little bit of my talent, I can save children on the other side of the world. Music is so powerful that listeners and performers are moved, but they have such great power to save people.

[Anchor]
It's the 12th of next month. There is a meaningful concert, so I hope many people watch it and it will be an opportunity for the donation to be delivered. So far, we have been with Kim In-kyung, the head of the Soul Chamber Orchestra, and tenor John No. Thank you.
