israel attacks second round of retaliation against iran's capital tehran and southern shiraz

Israel conducted a second airstrike immediately after a retaliatory attack on Tehran, the capital of Iran.

Reuters and the Associated Press, citing local Iranian media, reported that four additional explosions were heard in Tehran shortly after Israel's first airstrike.

The Jerusalem Post said Iran's southern Shiraz was also included in the second round of retaliatory attacks.

Iran's state television announced shortly after the second airstrike on Tehran that "the air defense system was activated against Israeli attacks, resulting in an explosion sound."

Earlier in the day, the Israeli military said in a statement that it had carried out a planned retaliatory attack on Iranian military facilities.
