While North Korea and Russia have virtually recognized the dispatch of North Korean troops to Russia, there are observations that the deployment of North Korean troops to the Ukrainian front is imminent.

In response, the government is expected to increase the level of response by sharing more intimate information with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and NATO.

Reporter Cho Soo-hyun reports.

When asked about satellite images of North Korean troops sending troops to Russia, Putin did not deny the deployment.

He said it's up to us to figure out what to do and how to do with North Korea.

In line with this, North Korea also argued that if such a thing happened, it would be in line with international legal norms. While

is interpreted as an indirect admission of the dispatch of troops, Ukraine estimated the number of troops at 12,000.

Some troops are said to have already been deployed to Kursk in western Russia, which is considered a battleground.

[Kim Hyung-seok / Former Unification Minister: (Russia) has a realistic situation where it is difficult to secure combat troops, and from Russia's point of view, it was occupied by Ukraine. It's a very self-respecting area. So we have to overcome the charter first in this area...]

If North Korea receives ICBM warhead reentry technology or nuclear-powered submarine technology from Russia through this dispatch, it poses a direct threat to our security.

The government plans to implement step-by-step countermeasures in line with the progress of military cooperation between Russia and North Korea. First of all, it is expected to share more intimate information with NATO and seek a joint response with the international community.

A government delegation will brief the NATO board on the North Korean military dispatch and meet separately with senior NATO and EU officials, including Secretary-General Rutter.

The delegation will also check whether North Korea is actually supporting Russia's war in Ukraine and explore the North Korean military's forces deployed in the war.

Until now, the government has provided only non-lethal weapons to Ukraine, but in the future, it has set a policy that it can increase the level of support in the order of defensive and offensive weapons depending on the North Korean military intervention situation.
