Israeli forces, which carried out retaliatory airstrikes across Iran, say they found and blew up a large tunnel built by the pro-Iranian militant group Hezbollah.

Israel's 35th Airborne Brigade and Yahalom Unit dedicated to digging destroyed a 1.5km-long underground military facility found in southern Lebanon last week.

The Israeli military also said in a separate statement that it had "destroyed 130 rocket launchers in the past week."

The underground tunnel, built by Hezbollah over the past 15 years, was equipped with weapons, including food and anti-tank missiles, to help hundreds of militants stay for an extended period of time, the Israeli military explained.

"We used 400 tons of explosives to destroy this strategic military facility," Israeli military Arabic spokesman Abichai Adrai said on social media.

Hezbollah reportedly built a hundreds of kilometers-long tunnel with the help of Iran and North Korea after fighting the war with Israel in 2006.
