The Seoul Administrative Court ruled against the plaintiff in a lawsuit filed by the bereaved family against the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to pay compensation.
Mr. A's son, who was 39 years old at the time of his death, was hospitalized in October 2021 with symptoms of subarachnoid hemorrhage, a type of cerebral hemorrhage, and died in December of the same year.
The court explained that there is no data to suggest that there is a medical theory or empirical rule to infer that the vaccination caused subarachnoid hemorrhage, and that it is difficult to infer a causal relationship.
Rather, he added that the possibility that the deceased had risk factors cannot be ruled out in light of blood pressure or cholesterol levels.
