AP "At least 124 civilians killed in Sudan rebel attack"

African Sudanese government forces and civil war rebels have killed more than 100 civilians in the past week, the Associated Press reported.

The U.N. claimed that rebels, the Expedited Support Force, and the RSF, killed and looted residents in the eastern and northern states of Gezira, south of the capital Khartoum, on the 20th and 25th of this month.

Sudan Doctors' Union says at least 124 people have been killed and 200 injured in the town of Sarriha.

U.N. humanitarian coordinator Clementine Nketasalami said the situation is similar to the atrocities committed during Sudan's Darfur genocide in the early 2000s.

The Associated Press said the RSF recently attacked a town suspected of following a regional commander who surrendered when he was pushed back by government forces, including giving up some occupied territory in Gezira.

In Sudan, civil war has continued since April 15 last year when government forces and the RSF clashed.
