Earlier in January, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport launched a comprehensive plan in March after announcing the integrated development policy for railway undergrounding at a public welfare debate on the theme of "Three Innovation Measures in the Transportation Sector."
It then launched an integrated railway underground development council composed of experts from urban, financial, and rail sectors, and distributed guidelines in June to smoothly propose projects for local governments.
The routes proposed this time include the Seoul Gyeongbu Line, Gyeongwon Line, Busan Gyeongbu Line, Incheon and Gyeonggi Gyeongin Line, Daejeon Island Market and Daejeon Station, and Gyeonggi Gyeongbu Line and Ansan Line.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to form an evaluation committee involving experts to review the proposal fairly and objectively, and select the first target project in December after writing, presentation, and on-site evaluation.
