Record heavy rain fell this summer, but heavy rain and typhoon damage were greatly reduced.

According to the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, there were six casualties during the 'Pungsoo Damage Countermeasures Period' this year. Over the past five years, the average number of deaths has been less than 30 per year, and property damage has been counted at 389.3 billion won, a 35% decrease from previous years.

In particular, 16 heavy rains of more than 100 millimeters per hour fell this year, the most frequent since 2010, and precipitation in September was 155% higher than usual, but strengthening disaster safety management and focusing on evacuating vulnerable groups before the start of the rainy season worked.

The Ministry of Public Administration and Security added that it will do its best to protect the lives and property of the people from heavy snow and cold waves even in winter.
