The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced today that it has confirmed the design and shape of the Dokdo ship, a large transport ship with a capacity of 14,000 tons.

As a result, the old combat system and radar of the Dokdo ship, which has been in charge of transporting troops and equipment since its deployment in 2007, will be replaced with the latest domestic combat system.

When the performance improvement is completed, the speed of information processing will be 100 times higher and the number of target processing will be 5 times higher than before, making it possible to operate anti-aircraft guns, anti-ship guided missiles, and defense guided missiles mounted on Dokdo more effectively, the DAPA explained.

In addition, the previously installed Dutch rotating anti-aircraft radar is also replaced with a domestic four-sided fixed multifunctional phase array (AESA) radar, which is expected to double the detection distance and target processing number.
