International student jailed for stealing lab computer parts to gamble

The Suwon District Court sentenced a 28-year-old Mongolian international student A, who is suspected of stealing 100 million won worth of computer parts in a university lab to raise gambling funds, to one year in prison.

The court explained that A stole and sold major computer parts of the lab he managed himself, and considered the fact that the number of crimes was high and the amount of damage was large.

A was put on trial for stealing more than 100 million won worth of computer parts, including graphic processing devices, from a university lab in Gyeonggi Province 12 times in nine months from July last year to raise money for gambling.
