Rumpiskin, a livestock epidemic that causes skin nodules, is showing signs of spreading across the country.
Last week, the quarantine authorities were put on alert as positive tests were confirmed in Chungbuk, Gangwon, and Gyeonggi-do, following Gyeongbuk and Chungnam.

There is a sign in front of the dairy farm to control access.
On the 27th, a report of suspected skin nodules was received at a dairy farm in Sinni-myeon, Chungju, Chungcheongbuk-do, and a detailed examination confirmed that Rumpiskin was positive.
Following Geumga-myeon, Chungju last month, Rumpiskin also occurred in Sinni-myeon, a nearby area.
The quarantine authorities have dispatched an initial quarantine team to prevent the spread of Rumpiskin and are conducting epidemiological investigations.
As a result, six neighboring cities and counties ordered livestock-related facilities and vehicles to stop moving 24 hours a day and started preventing them.
In addition, 11 cows that were tested positive were buried in the farm where Rumpiskin occurred, and
It was decided to set up a 5km quarantine zone centered on farms with
outbreak to restrict movement to 150 farms in the quarantine zone and conduct clinical tests once a week.
The problem is that there are signs of spreading across the country as positive test results for Rumpiskin have been found in Mungyeong, North Gyeongsang Province, Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province, Wonju, Gangwon Province, and Chungju, North Chungcheong Province.
Rumpiskin is a viral disease that is spread by vampire insects such as mosquitoes, characterized by high fever and skin nodules.
The mortality rate is not high below 10%, but it is classified as a type 1 livestock infectious disease due to its strong infectiousness.
For this reason, it is most important to prevent mosquito bites along with vaccination to reduce the probability of infection.
[Lee Chung-ki / Chungju Livestock Quarantine Team Leader: (If rump skin occurs), natural death can occur. Disinfection is important, of course, but insecticide relief followed by vaccination. I have to pay a lot of attention to this....]
As cases were confirmed until mid-November last year, the spread is likely to continue for the time being, raising tensions among farmers.
