The Seoul Metropolitan Government said it will investigate the status of root industries in Korea and Seoul from February to August next year and come up with a comprehensive plan for promoting root industries.
Root Industries is a basic process technology project that produces "materials as parts and parts as finished products," and the city will investigate the status of root industries and examine the current status of industries that have been excluded from support, such as industrial robot manufacturing and application software development.
As of 2022, there are 61,000 root industry companies nationwide, 4,500 in Seoul, and only 452 small manufacturing companies related to metals and machinery were supported by the city under the law.
