The president's office says it is approaching the issue of Ukraine aid from the perspective of protecting our security no matter who the next U.S. president becomes.

An official from the presidential office told reporters today (30th) that no matter who is elected as the next head of the U.S. administration, the war in Ukraine is clearly at the stage of sending a critical signal, a signal, to the security of the Republic of Korea.

He then explained that while the will of the United States is important, our national interests are more important, and that the steps we are currently preparing are not wrong and I think it is a necessary step.

The official stressed that the decisive criterion for our next step will be the start of the battle in Ukraine involving the North Korean military.

He also said that the issue of supporting Ukraine is whether the free world will build a stable and predictable peace with the world order based on international norms in the future.

Such remarks by an official from the president's office came in response to criticism that it is inappropriate to open the possibility of arms aid to Ukraine at a time when Trump, who has declared an early end to the war in Ukraine, is likely to be elected in the U.S. presidential election.
