An elementary school student returning home from school was hit and killed by a backward waste collection vehicle.
The place where the accident occurred was none other than an apartment complex, and it was on the sidewalk.
Police believe the accident occurred because the driver did not see an elementary school student while reversing.

A five-ton domestic waste collection vehicle enters the apartment complex.
Turn the vehicle and reverse in the direction of the separate collection center, and hit the elementary school student behind you.
An elementary school student passing through the sidewalk of the apartment on his way home from school was seriously injured and eventually died.
Ms. A, a first-year elementary school student who was returning home, had an accident around 1:20 p.m. in broad daylight.
The driver of the domestic waste collection vehicle reportedly told police that he "did not find the child behind the vehicle."
[Apartment official: You come in, go backward, load, and leave. I think he said he was backing up. (The driver) was standing there shaking.]
There was no worker outside the vehicle to look around while the vehicle climbed over the sidewalk where the residents were walking and backed up.
[Police official: The child is walking from behind to get home normally, but the vehicle reversed and passed away.]
The police are investigating the accident by charging the driver with death under the Special Act on the Handling of Road Traffic Accidents.
