According to the National Statistical Office, out of 42.94 million Koreans over the age of 18, the unmarried population was 12.675 million, accounting for 29.5%, with 51.3% of unmarried people in their 30s.
By city and province, Seoul's unmarried rate was the highest at 62.8%, and Sejong had the lowest at 34.4%.
The elderly support cost, which is an elderly population that supports every 100 working-age population, was 27.3 as of last year, higher than the youth support cost of 15.9.
The National Statistical Office said it will expand the results of the registration census from the end of this year to respond to population crises such as low birth rate and aging population.
