The Supreme Court today (31st) morning will sentence former Democratic Party lawmaker Yoon Kwan-seok to an appeal ruling on the alleged violation of the party law.
Yoon was sentenced to two years in prison in the first and second trials for accepting 60 million won from primary camp officials to provide Democratic lawmakers for the election of Song Young-gil ahead of the Democratic National Convention in May 2021.
In this regard, former lawmaker Yoon, former lawmakers Lee Sung-man and Lim Jong-sung, and Heo Jong-sik were indicted on charges of receiving money envelopes and were all sentenced to probation of prison sentences in the first trial.
Prosecutors are continuing to investigate seven former and current Democratic Party lawmakers who are suspected of receiving money envelopes.
