JTBC has secured broadcast rights for the 2026 North and Central American World Cup, the 2023 Centennial World Cup, and the 2027 Brazil Women's World Cup.
The Korea Broadcasting Association, a network of terrestrial broadcasters, issued a statement claiming that JTBC's monopoly on World Cup broadcasting rights goes against the spirit and purpose of the Broadcasting Act on universal viewing rights.
He then criticized JTBC for causing the outflow of national wealth by rejecting the proposal to participate and securing the right to broadcast the World Cup following the Olympics, although the three terrestrial broadcasters have jointly responded through the council.
Earlier, JTBC also won domestic broadcasting rights for the Winter and Summer Olympics, which will be held from 2026 to 2032.
