The late Han Sam-taek, who was involved in the spy manipulation case of the Korean Federation of Japan, was also acquitted in a retrial appeal.

The Seoul Central District Court today (31st) acquitted Han, who was charged with violating the National Security Law, as in the first trial.

The court judged that Han's actions were insufficient to see that there was a clear risk of substantial harm to the basic order of the country.

Han, who worked at Jeju Middle School, was sentenced to three years in prison and five years of probation in 1967 on charges of exchanging correspondence with officials of the Chochongryeon and receiving money from the Chochongryeon.

In the first trial held at the request for retrial by the bereaved family, the court acquitted Han, saying that his actions did not jeopardize the existence or safety of the country and that it was difficult to say that he broke the liberal democratic order.
