At a meeting held at the UN headquarters in New York on the 30th (local time), the Security Council discussed North Korea's recent dispatch of troops to Russia under the theme of maintaining peace and security in Ukraine.
At the meeting, U.N. Ambassador Hwang Joon-guk pointed out that North Korea's dispatch of troops to Russia is feared to become a legitimate military target and become a bullet stand, and the money that soldiers should receive from Russia will fall into Kim Jong-un's pocket.
Robert Wood, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, then said, "If North Korean troops are deployed to the battlefield, this means a serious spread of conflict and clearly shows that Russia is becoming increasingly desperate."
"Russia's increasing military dependence on Iran and North Korea is putting the world at risk," he said. "In particular, North Korea and Iran's ability to threaten the Indo-Pacific and the Middle East is increasing to a catastrophic level."
On the other hand, representatives of the North Korean and Russian governments did not explicitly confirm the dispatch of North Korean troops, but emphasized the legitimacy of the dispatch and then admitted it indirectly.
"There's no need to be surprised because it's all a lie," Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vasily Nevenza said of the North's troop dispatch, adding that the West is trying to distract attention from issues that are truly important, threatening international peace and security.
"We hope that our Korean colleagues will be wise enough not to be deceived by the clever manipulation of the West," he said. "We are trying to protect the preconditions for resuming the traditional friendly relationship between Moscow and Seoul, and we highly appreciate South Korea's self-restraint (in relation to Ukraine aid).""Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, the United States and the West have expanded their supply of various military equipment such as tanks and fighter jets to Ukraine. The important point is that Ukraine launched a missile attack on Russian territory in June," said Kim Sung, North Korean ambassador to the United Nations.
At the end of Ambassador Kim's remarks, U.S. Ambassador Wood repeatedly expressed concern, saying, "These acts of (security) instability are a significant threat to peace and security not only in Europe but also in the Indo-Pacific region."
"If the North Korean military enters Ukraine to support Russia, they will certainly be returned in a body bag," he said, warning North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, "I would like to advise you to think twice about such reckless and dangerous behavior."
