There was a fraud case in which a house was rented from a shared accommodation platform, pretended to be the owner, and defrauded the deposit and monthly rent.

According to the legal community yesterday (31st), senior judge Kim Bo-ra recently sentenced A in his 30s to six months in prison for fraud for posing as a fake landlord in the Seoul Northern District Court.

Mr. A was accused of borrowing an officetel from a shared accommodation platform, pretending to be a landlord, signing a contract with the landlord and defrauding the deposit and monthly rent.

Earlier in November last year, A posted an online cafe saying, "Opistel Short-term Lease." Afterwards, he proposed a lease contract of 4 million won in deposit and 750,000 won in monthly rent to B, who contacted him after seeing the article.

Afterwards, he pretended to be a "building manager" and offered to B, "If I rent, I will cut the monthly rent by 50,000 won," and signed a four-month short-term rental contract with B.

In this way, A swindled B with a deposit of 4 million won and a monthly rent of 700,000 won, a total of 4.7 million won.

Mr. A only rented a room in an officetel for a month through a shared accommodation platform, but did not own it.

According to a police investigation, A has a history of being punished for the same crime several times in the past.
