OpenAI, the developer of the generative artificial intelligence 'Chat GPT', has officially launched a search function in Chat GPT.

As a result, competition with Google and Microsoft (MS), the world's largest search engine companies, is expected to begin in earnest.

OpenAI announced on the 31st that it will officially launch a search function in ChatGPT, which has been tested under the name Search GPT since July, local time.

ChatGPT searches provide information based on real-time web searches as well as partnerships with news and data providers.

The search function is available on ChatGPT (chatgpt.com ) and is also available on desktop and mobile apps.

OpenAI explained that it has been possible to get useful web answers by searching multiple times and digging into links, but now it is possible to get better answers with natural interactive questions.

It added that users can ask additional questions and ask deep questions about issues they want to get, and ChatGPT will provide the best answers considering the full context of the conversation.

Answers to the conversation will include links from sources such as news articles or blog posts so you can learn more about them.

OpenAI has partnered with news partners including AP and Reuters, Financial Times, News Corp, Le Monde, Time and Vox Media for search capabilities.

The search feature is powered by a fine-tuned version of OpenAI's most powerful AI model, GPT-4o.

As OpenAI releases ChatGPT search function, attention is being paid to whether it will shake the game of the search market dominated by Google.

As of September, Google accounted for 90% of the global search market, according to the web traffic analysis website.

Microsoft's Bing came in second with 3.96 percent.
