Britain's ambassador to the United Nations, Barbara Woodward, who chaired the Security Council this month, said at a briefing on the chairmanship that an official meeting of the Security Council will be held on the 4th on the North Korean issue.
Earlier, seven Security Council members, including South Korea, the United States, France, Japan, Malta, Slovenia, and the United Kingdom, requested a meeting on North Korea's ICBM launch provocation.
U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres strongly condemned North Korea's long-range ballistic missile launch in a statement.
"North Korea's continued missile launches using ballistic missile technology clearly violate relevant Security Council resolutions," he said.
The Security Council resolution prohibits North Korea from launching missiles using ballistic missile technology.
