At least 12 people were killed and seven injured in Quang Binh province due to heavy rains and floods caused by Tammy, according to local media VN Express.
Vietnamese authorities also say about 9,300 homes have been evacuated and 34,000 homes have been flooded.
The floods damaged 791 hectares of farmland and 716 hectares of fish farms, and killed more than 70,000 poultry.
Authorities also added that various infrastructure had suffered severe damage, including roads being cut off and embankments collapsing.
About 150 people were killed in the Philippines, where Trami hit ahead of Vietnam.
