Kemi Baidnock elected as new leader of UK Conservative Party

Britain's Conservative Party, which suffered a crushing defeat in a general election in July, elected former trade minister Kemi Baidnock as its new leader after a party leadership race.

The Associated Press said on the 2nd local time that Vaidnock defeated his rival Robert Jenrick to become the new leader of the Conservative Party in a vote of about 100,000 British Conservative Party members.

Born in 1980, Badenoch became the first black woman to lead a major political party in Britain.

Baidnock will replace former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who led the Conservatives to their worst election result since 1832 in July.
