Medical professors' groups have called on the government and the president's office to guarantee academic autonomy.

The National Council of College of Medicine Professors and the National Council of Emergency Measures for College of Medicine Professors issued a press release, citing recent presidential office officials' remarks that medical students are required to return to school in the first semester of 2025.

At the same time, most of the school regulations state that "leave of absence is within two semesters once," but this refers to the number of semesters that are applied at once, and through additional applications, leave of absence is recognized up to 10 semesters.

He then stressed that the current situation can be resolved only when the Ministry of Education and the President's Office withdraw from the university's academic management and entrance examination and guarantee the autonomy of the university.
