The Pakistani daily Don reported that a bombing targeted a police car guarding a polio vaccination team near a school in Mastung, Baluchistan, southwest on the 1st.
Local police say a homemade bomb attached to a parked motorcycle went off, killing nine people, including five students, a police officer and a bystander, and injuring 17 others.
The organization that claimed to be behind the incident has not yet emerged.
In Pakistan, polio vaccination rates are not high due to opposition from some Muslim clerics and extremists, and cases have surged in recent years, with 41 cases this year.
Because of this, Pakistani health authorities have been conducting polio vaccination campaigns and visiting homes to inoculate children, but each time there is a series of attacks targeting the vaccination team.
