Putin aide "If U.S. fuels Ukraine war, World War III"

Dmitry Medvedev, vice chairman of Russia's National Security Council, a close ally of Putin, warned that the United States would face a third world war if it added fuel to the war in Ukraine.

"If the next U.S. leader continues to pour fuel on it, it will be a path to hell," Medvedev told Russian media, arguing that former President Trump and Vice President Harris, the U.S. presidential candidates, should be aware of this.

He also said U.S. officials were wrong in thinking that Russia would not cross certain lines and use nuclear weapons.

Russia has recently stepped up its threat to use nuclear weapons, as Ukraine has asked the United States and others to allow strikes on Russia's mainland using long-range missiles.
