As part of the policy to guarantee retirement income in response to a super-aged society, the issue of extending the retirement age has emerged as a major task.
Both labor and management agree on increasing the retirement age, but there is a wide gap in the way they are employed, so it is necessary to reach an agreement through social dialogue.

For the first time among the central ministries, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security has decided to extend the retirement age of public service workers in charge of facility management and cleaning by up to five years from the age of 60.
Daegu City was the first local government in the country to apply the 65-year-old retirement age extension rule to indefinite contract public officials.
This is a remarkable policy change at a time when retirement income guarantees are urgently needed in response to the rapid super-aging.

As the government is also considering raising the end age of national pension payments from 59 to 64, discussions on extending the retirement age cannot be missed to fill the income cliff gap until the pension payment period after retirement.
The Economic, Social and Labor Commission, a social dialogue organization, is conducting labor-management talks to find a solution to extending the retirement age.
Eight meetings were held to confirm the positions of labor and management on the extension of the retirement age and the reform of the wage system,
The primary goal is to draw conclusions by the first quarter of next year, including holding a public debate next month and going through a public debate process.
First of all, both labor, management and the government have formed a consensus on the need to continue hiring the elderly.
However, the labor community says that the legal retirement age should be raised to 65 and wages should be set by labor-management agreement depending on the circumstances of the workplace.
On the other hand, the business community is opposed to extending the legal retirement age.The
Act should not force an extension of retirement age and allow companies to continue to choose whether to hire, preferring selective re-employment after retirement.
The government is in a position to create a new alternative on the premise of reforming the wage system rather than extending the retirement age uniformly.
[Kim Moon-soo / Minister of Employment and Labor (last month, YTN Radio): There are a lot of problems for the elderly, but there are also a lot of problems for the youth, so we have to catch two rabbits at the same time that we solve both of them.]
As there are concerns that 'continued employment' of the elderly will deprive young people of jobs due to differences in labor and management positions,
Attention is focusing on whether the
government can reach an agreement to extend the retirement age close to a random number through social dialogue.
