Heungdeok Police Station in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, is investigating a man in his 20s on charges of leaving dozens of pet lizards and snakes unattended for a long time.

The police and Cheongju-si went to the scene on the 11th of last month after receiving a report that they could not contact the tenant at a villa in Bokdae-dong, Cheongju-si, and confirmed that 95 lizards were left dead in the house.

Cheongju-si rescued 152 living lizards and four snakes and asked the police to investigate the tenant, A, for violating the Animal Protection Act.

After contacting the landlord, Mr. A reportedly said that he had gone to work in another area due to his difficulty in living.
