About 700 second-year cadets from the Army, Navy, and Air Force Academy and the Armed Forces Nursing Academy participated in the training, as well as a large transport ship Marado, a landing ship, a military support ship Daecheong, and a Marineon helicopter.
Cadets will observe various exercises such as tactical maneuvers, gunfire, mobile munitions, and helicopter take-off ships during the voyage, and improve their understanding of naval operations through combat deployment and sailing duty experience assuming maritime combat conditions.
The Navy then plans to visit Yokosuka, Japan, and Guam to tour major units such as the U.N. Command's rear base and the U.S. 7th Fleet Command to foster an international perspective by enhancing understanding of the security environment in the region.
