The first step has been taken to determine whether Lee Ki-heung, chairman of the Korea Sports Council, can run in the next election in January next year and whether he will be eligible for three consecutive terms.

The Sports Fair Committee of the Korea Sports Council held a subcommittee and deliberated on the contribution of Chairman Lee Ki-heung, performance of international competitions, and group evaluation.

The Sports Council only allows the re-election of the chairman according to the articles of association and has an "exception" after deliberation from the third term, and attention is being paid to whether Lee Ki-heung, an incumbent IOC member, will be eligible to run.

The sports association's union held a "opposition protest" in front of the conference room and said Chairman Lee had only taken the lead in political play for eight years in office, and the FTC pressed him to deliberate in accordance with fairness and common sense.

With Chairman Lee Ki-heung not officially announcing his candidacy, four people, including Yoo Seung Min, former president of the Table Tennis Association, Kang Shin-wook, emeritus professor at Dankook University, Kim Yong-joo, former secretary-general of the Gangwon Sports Association, and Park Chang-beom, former president of the Wushu Association, threw their ballots.

The election for the president of the Korea Sports Council will be held on January 14th next year, and candidate registration will be on the 24th and 25th and 2nd of next month.
