The Korea Aerospace Research Institute signed an agreement with the Korea Aerospace Research Institute today (4th) to promote a second phase of the project to secure the ability to independently explore the moon's surface through independent development of lunar landers and soft landing demonstrations.
The project period is until December 2033, and in the previous first phase of the project, Korea launched Danuri, the country's first lunar orbiter, the year before last year and will carry out science missions until December next year.
The payload required for the moon landing mission will be selected along with the landing site through planning research later.
Ryu Dong-young, president of the space agency's lunar lander program, said he will strengthen his capacity to participate in lunar-based space economy activities in the future.
