Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yeol stressed that illegal military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, including the dispatch of North Korean troops to Russia, poses a significant security threat to the international community.

In his keynote speech at the 17th Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum held at Lotte Hotel, Cho said, "Illegal military cooperation between North Korea and Russia is prolonging the suffering of innocent Ukrainian people."

He also pointed out that North Korea continues to develop nuclear weapons and missiles in direct violation of a number of resolutions unanimously adopted by the U.N. Security Council and now supports Russian weapons and troops.

He also urged the Korean government to continue to support the August 15 Unification Doctrine, saying that the denuclearization of North Korea and the peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula will contribute greatly to peace and prosperity around the world.
