People's Power Rep. Kim Jang-gyeom is pushing for the "Tree Wiki Transparency Act" to apply regulations under domestic law to Namuwiki, a knowledge information site based abroad.

Rep. Kim held a press conference at the National Assembly and said that despite the serious invasion of privacy, defamation, and distribution of fake news, Namuwiki is avoiding all problems with one sentence, "There may be a wrong description."

Namuwiki's annual net profit is estimated to be around 10 billion won, and he criticized that he is responding with guts to file a complaint with the Paraguay court, the address of the headquarters, whenever legal problems arise.

Representative Kim explained the purpose of the bill's proposal to minimize regulatory blind spots, saying that the voice-operated Namuwiki will be subject to domestic law to protect users and operate transparently.
