Syria's state-run SANA news agency reported that an airstrike targeted the Syrian capital of Damascus from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights at around 6:05 p.m. local time on the 4th.
Syria's foreign ministry condemned the attack on several civilian areas and said U.N. member states must take decisive action to stop the attack.
Hours later, the Israeli military issued a statement confirming that "air force fighters targeted the intelligence headquarters of the Hezbollah terrorist group in the Syrian region."
The Israeli military said Hezbollah, based in Lebanon, had been running an intelligence headquarters branch in Syria.
It added that Hezbollah intelligence head Hossein Ali Zima and Syrian branch head Mahmoud Muhammad Shaheen were killed in an airstrike about a month ago.
