Ahead of the summoning of Myung Tae-kyun, the prosecution reinforced the investigation team of Changwon District Prosecutors' Office.

Four new prosecutors, including Lee Ji-hyung, the second prosecutor at the Busan District Prosecutors' Office, have joined the team, and they plan to look into all the suspicions raised, including the alleged manipulation of the public opinion poll.

Let's connect with the reporter and listen closely.

Reporter Kim Chul-hee, the investigation team has been confirmed.

Yes, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office has decided to send four additional prosecutors, including one deputy prosecutor, one senior prosecutor, and two rank-and-file prosecutors, to the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office investigating suspicions related to Myung Tae-kyun.

Following the dispatch of two prosecutors to the investigation team last month, additional reinforcement was made within a month.

The prosecutors who were dispatched this time were Lee Ji-hyung, the second chief prosecutor of the Busan District Prosecutors' Office, Inhoon, the fifth chief prosecutor of the Ulsan District Prosecutors' Office, and two rank-and-file prosecutors belonging to the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office and the Busan District Prosecutors' Office.

The reinforcement is expected to speed up the prosecution's investigation as a "special investigation team" is set up, with only 11 prosecutors in the investigation team.

Earlier, the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office allocated the case of "suspected involvement in the nomination of Myung Tae-kyun" to the investigation department without a prosecutor.

It wasn't until the controversy grew that the case was sent to the criminal department, which was criticized for the "wolf investigation."

Since then, the prosecution has dispatched not only prosecutors but also two more investigators specializing in account tracking to expand the investigation manpower.

Until now, the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office has continued its investigation by focusing on suspicious money transactions between former lawmaker Kim Young-sun and Myung Tae-kyun.

In particular, it is known that former lawmaker Kim has been looking into why he handed over 90 million won to Myung immediately after being elected in the 2022 by-elections.

However, suspicions have been raised that Myung Tae-kyun conducted a poll on President Yoon Suk Yeol worth 375 million won ahead of the last presidential election, and that he was promised to nominate Kim Young-sun as a former lawmaker in return.

An official from the Supreme Prosecutors' Office explained that as the investigation team has been filled, it plans to look into all of the allegations raised, including the alleged manipulation of public opinion surveys.
