The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office appealed today (the 5th) to Kang, an accomplice who produced and distributed deepfakes with Park, the main culprit, for unfair sentencing.
The prosecution explained that since Kang targeted victims who were college alumni over a long period of time and agreed with only three of the 11 victims, a heavier sentence should be sentenced.
Earlier on the 30th of last month, the first trial court sentenced Kang to four years in prison in consideration of his lack of criminal punishment and confession of the crime, even though he found all of his charges guilty.
