Former Representative Song Young-gil of 'Democratic Party of Korea's Money Envelope Key' Trial Today

Song Young-gil, former chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea National Convention, will be held today (6th) on suspicion of accepting money envelopes.

The Seoul Central District Court will hold a final hearing on Song, who was indicted on charges of receiving illegal political funds, from 2 p.m. today.

Song is accused of intervening in the process of spraying 60 million won worth of money envelopes to lawmakers and others in the party in order to be elected as party leader at the 2021 Democratic National Convention.

Former lawmaker Yoon Kwan-seok, who is accused of raising more than 60 million won in money envelopes, was recently sentenced to two years in prison by the Supreme Court.
