Last September, a woman in her 30s killed herself at a pension in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do.
The eight-page suicide note was full of affection and regret for her 6-year-old daughter.
'If there is a next life even after death, I love you in the next life, too.
I love you, my baby. I love you.'
But there were unknown numbers on the notebook.
He wrote down 900,000 won for Assistant Manager Cho, 400,000 won for Senior Manager Ko, and the amount of loan sharks who borrowed money.
[Mr. A's bereaved family: If you had just opened up to me and wrote it because you were in a hurry.... I should have had a conversation....]
Mr. A was being bullied by illegal loan sharks.
The debt, which started with hundreds of thousands of won, seems to have increased by more than 10 million won in less than a month to a murderous interest rate of thousands of percent per annum.
Mr. A borrowed money from other loan sharks and tried to stop it, but soon ran into a limit.
Then, loan sharks began to pressure Mr. A's family and acquaintances by contacting them.
They sent hundreds of threatening messages a day, including photos of Mr. A's family, as well as the kindergarten and home address where his daughter attends.
He even called the kindergarten teacher, who A's daughter attends, and threatened to go see the child.
[Mr. A's bereaved family: I want to see (Mr. A's daughter) and he's coming.... No, even to a kid....]
He threatened his family, saying he would follow him and kill him for the rest of his life, but he contacted him even after A died and didn't hesitate to speak rudely.
[Mr. A's bereaved family: Let's say he died well. I'm letting my daughter go with my family....]
The police have launched a formal investigation into illegal loan sharks related to A's death.
Although they used fake phones and fake bank accounts, the police are narrowing the investigation network by tracking the flow of funds.
