If there is a "Cherry Blossom Ending" in spring when cherry blossoms are scattered, there is a "Because It's Rainy" in the rainy season. The singer Heize, the main character of this "Rainy Pension Song," is also a "breakup song master" who has occupied the music charts with numerous farewell songs such as "Even Falling Leaves," "Don't Know You Too Much," "Don't Come Back," and "Heartbreaking Coincidence."
Heize, who returned after about a year, put a new perspective on separation in his ninth mini album "FALLIN". This time, rather than the immediate pain of separation, it depicts longing for things that have left in the past. Hayes said, "I focused on 'drop' which is the dictionary meaning of 'pollin'. It means to drop the longing and start a new beginning," he explained.
Heize wrote and composed the majority of the songs in this album and shook off the various feelings of longing inside. I thought of several objects, including family, friends, childhood, and parents. He also introduced himself as "a person with a lot of longing."
"When I was writing this album, I felt the most about my family. I thought of my parents who were much stronger than they are now. And I remembered myself, who had been in love without calculation with a pure heart, and those who passed me. I don't think I need to hold on because longing is not next to me right now and most of the feelings of disappearance are there. It's as natural as the seasons go by."
His thoughts on longing can also be seen in the marketing of this album. A moving family photo restored with AI has already become a hot topic. Heize said, "The moment I miss remains in a stopped form, so isn't there a limit to thinking about it? I submitted the picture to the company thinking I wanted to see my healthy mother again," he said.
However, the title, which combines various songs about longing into a single story, is actually a song by an external composer. B.I wrote and composed the lyrics. "With this song as the title, I was able to gather the songs I wrote in one message," Heize said, explaining the reason for the title selection.
As it has become a "song queen" who occupies the music charts every time a new song is released, there is also a lot of pressure on the new song. Heize said, "I'm nervous if the song I've been thinking about will be delivered well to people or if it'll be sincere. It's also unsettling. But I have to let a lot of people hear it, so I think the burden is natural and I have to bear it," he said honestly.
However, he is determined not to dwell on his performance. "It's not like you can write a hit song just by calculating and making it," he said. That's why I don't think much about the ranking, he said calmly, "I hope it goes well because it's a song with a lot of people's efforts."
It is Heize's own principle that he does not waver despite the burden and expectations. He has been adhering to the principle of writing songs based on experience for 10 years. In addition, recently, they try not to impose sanctions on themselves. "It was much more raw during 'Unpretty Rapstar,'" Hayes said. As time goes by, I think about how the listener will accept it, so I go through censorship in my head, he said. "These days, I think a lot about not packaging it."
Heize, who was singing the pain of separation, sings of his willingness to take a step further from longing to a new beginning with his new album, Pauline. Then, what will Heize sing next? He hinted at the transformation, saying, "I will come back with a brighter song next year."
