◇Anchor> And especially one of Trump's pledges could have a direct impact on semiconductors, which are our major export items?

◆ Seok Byung-hoon> That's right. If candidate Trump is elected, semiconductor subsidies will be reduced. Because during the campaign, candidate Trump is now maintaining a bill called the Chip Act in the United States that decided to provide various subsidies as a condition for creating a semiconductor production base in the United States. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix in Korea are also building factories in the United States, with Samsung Electronics receiving subsidies of 8 trillion won and SK Hynix receiving 600 billion won from the Biden administration. But Trump doesn't have to give these subsidies during the campaign. He once said that if huge tariffs are imposed, foreign companies will build production facilities in the United States to circumvent tariffs.

Therefore, if Trump is elected, there is a concern that he will reverse the Chips Act and not pay subsidies that our semiconductor companies were supposed to receive. What viewers should pay attention to here is the situation where the law has to be changed in the end. Therefore, the outcome of the House of Representatives' election is quite important. So this time, the House of Representatives and the Senate are holding some elections. In the case of the Senate, it is predicted that the Republican Party will occupy more than a majority. The House is quite close. So no matter who becomes president, it's impossible to predict whether the House will be a Democrat or a Republican.

Even if Trump is elected president, if he takes control of the House of Representatives from the Democratic side, he can't realize it right away because he needs to get the consent of the House of Representatives to reverse the inflation reduction law and the chip law. You can see it like this, but the problem is that if the Republican Party wins the House of Representatives, the anxiety grows considerably.
