The event, the third of its kind after Busan in 2022 and Daejeon last year, will be held for three days until the 8th, with 17 cities and provinces and seven central ministries participating, including the Office of Education.
At the opening ceremony, President Yoon Suk Yeol congratulated six new regional organizations, including Gangwon-do, Chungcheongnam-do, and North Chungcheong-do.
At the Expo site, an exhibition hall related to local autonomy was set up.
Additional events for citizens include coffee festa and drone racing cup competitions.
