According to Reuters, Cuba's presidential office, the Meteorological Administration and the Power Administration's social network service said that from the morning of the 6th local time, Cuba was hit by heavy rain with strong winds, mainly in Havana and the west due to the impact of the Category 3 hurricane "Rafael."
"Raphael's maximum wind speed will reach 185 kilometers per hour," the Cuban Meteorological Administration told X. "It is expected to land this afternoon and leave the island at dawn on Thursday (7th)."
Cuba's power agency said on social media that power supply systems across the country had caused problems at around 3 p.m. that day, triggering emergency protocols such as cutting off power to non-essential facilities.
In addition, flights to Havana and Baradero regional airports were canceled one after another.
Cuba's state-run Granma says the government has ordered schools to close at all levels of the island, while taking emergency protections for facilities along the coastline in preparation for flooding.
Cuban residents are concerned about the damage caused by another hurricane, Raphael, moving north even before recovering from the Oscar damage that hit the eastern part of the island at the end of last month, about two weeks ago.
