'AI in the Military Sector' Resolution Adopts U.N. 1 Committee Led By South Korea

The first resolution on AI and artificial intelligence in the military sector was adopted by the first committee of the United Nations General Assembly, led by South Korea.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on the 6th local time that a related resolution jointly proposed by South Korea and the Netherlands was adopted at the 79th UN General Assembly 1st Committee and will be presented to the plenary session next month.

As a result of the vote, 165 countries, including the United States, Japan and China, agreed, only North Korea and Russia opposed it, and six countries abstained.

The resolution calls for confirming the application of international law to military AI and efforts to maximize the benefits of introducing military AI and minimize risks.
