A fine has been imposed on executives and employees, including former CEO of Namyang Dairy Co., who are accused of falsely promoting "Bulgaris" as if it is effective in preventing COVID-19.

The Seoul Central District Court today (7th) fined 20 million won to Namyang Dairy's former CEO Lee Kwang-beom and Park, head of the Anti-Viral Immunization Institute, who were accused of violating the law on labeling and advertising of food products.

In addition, two Namyang Dairy Products' general-level employees were fined 10 million won and the Namyang Dairy Products corporation was fined 50 million won.

The court pointed out that they distributed press releases that had meaningless or intentionally omitted content and knew that they would be published as they intended.

As such, I thought it was correct to believe that distributing the press release advertised Vulgaris as a product that was effective in preventing COVID-19.

He also said that he committed the crime when the whole nation was concerned about COVID-19 due to the flood of confirmed patients, and pointed out that the crime was not good.

Namyang Dairy's former CEO Lee and others are accused of promoting it by holding an academic debate in 2021, presenting the research results as if it is effective in preventing the coronavirus in Bulgaria, and distributing press releases.
