The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stressed that it is necessary to pass the Special Act on Reconstruction in order to gather local government maintenance project managers to speed up reconstruction.

In this regard, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said it held a "Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Local Government Maintenance Project Council" this morning (7th) to discuss ways to speed up the maintenance project.

The council was attended by metropolitan local governments such as Seoul and Busan, and basic local governments such as Anyang, Gwacheon, Gwangmyeong, and Changwon, where a number of reconstruction and redevelopment projects are being promoted.

The meeting was organized to listen to local governments' opinions on the enactment of the Special Act on Reconstruction and the revision of the Urban Improvement Act, which was proposed as a follow-up to the plan to expand housing supply announced on August 8.

At the meeting, local government officials expressed their opinion that the special reconstruction law could speed up the project if it passes the National Assembly, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport urged local governments to strengthen management and supervision of maintenance projects.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport explained that it will make efforts to enact and revise related bills such as the Special Act on Reconstruction as soon as possible, as the council confirmed the need to speed up the maintenance project.
