Paju Police Station in Gyeonggi Province handed over Lee Dong-jin, head of the National Enlightenment Movement Headquarters, to the prosecution today (7th) on charges of violating the Aviation Safety Act.

This is the first case in which a leaflet distributor was sent to North Korea after the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport made a voter interpretation that more than 2 kilograms of balloons hanging leaflets could be a violation of the Aviation Safety Act.

Representative Lee is accused of sending dozens of large balloons and more than 2 kilograms of propaganda leaflets to the North twice in June and August in Haseong-myeon, Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi-do.

Police said they are investigating more than 20 cases related to North Korean leaflets and will finish them as soon as possible.
