The Joint Chiefs of Staff said it conducted live-fire drills using Hyunmoo-2 surface-to-surface missiles against North Korea's successive ballistic missile provocations.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said that the Hyeonmu-II ballistic missile, which was launched by a unit of the Army Missile Strategy Command from Anheung Shooting Range in Chungcheongnam-do, flew about 200 kilometers and hit a maritime target in the south.

He then said that the training was conducted as a procedure to precisely strike the origin of the enemy's provocation, and that it showed a willingness to respond firmly to any North Korean provocations.

Earlier, on the 31st of last month, North Korea launched a new intercontinental ballistic missile, the ICBM Hwasung-19, and on the 5th, several short-range ballistic missiles believed to be super-large multiple rockets.
